Stefan Messer appointed Honorary Senator

The Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main has awarded Stefan Messer, Chief Executive Officer of Messer Group GmbH and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Adolf Messer Foundation, the title of Honorary Senator.

Through the Adolf Messer Foundation, which is named after the company founder, Stefan Messer has for many years promoted outstanding research in the fields of natural sciences and medicine at the Goethe University. In this context, particular mention should be made of the Adolf Messer Prize and numerous scholarships which he made possible. “The Goethe University wishes to display its gratitude to its long-standing sponsor by awarding him the title of Honorary Senator. Stefan Messer embodies civil commitment to education and science in an exemplary manner,” emphasised Werner Müller-Esterl, President of the Goethe University, in his laudation. The university is particularly pleased by Mr. Messer’s recent promise to provide significant support in setting up the physics laboratory for school students in the next few years.

The appointment as an Honorary Senator is the highest award which the University of Frankfurt can grant and is the reward for major services to the university. The Honorary Senators are proposed by the Executive Committee or a faculty.
