Messer runs technical centre at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences

Messer, the industrial gas specialist, establishes its technical center for cutting and welding at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Niederrhein) in Krefeld.

This month, the Messer Group began setting up a specialised technical center for the development of new welding and cutting technologies at the Hochschule Niederrhein. For Messer, the industrial gas specialist that returned to being owner-managed in 2004, the proximity of its Krefeld site, where the R&D department is located, to the tenth largest technical university in Germany and its infrastructure offer the ideal prerequisites for a collaborative partnership. Close contact with the technical university’ materials and joining technology department is intended to further strengthen the exchange of specialist knowledge and joint work on innovative projects. In the process, the focus will be on the development of protective welding gas mixtures for diverse materials such as galvanised sheet metal, high-alloy steels and aluminium alloys. The technical center supplements the international network of other international technical centers for welding and cutting technologies run by Messer in Switzerland, Hungary and China. As a full-service provider, Messer oversees all processes for welding and cutting technology in which technical gases are used or can be used in future.

Hochschule Niederrhein and the Messer Group are also fostering fruitful contacts in other areas. Messer is also supporting “run”, the regional initiative for start-up businesses run by Hochschule Niederrhein which offers support to students and graduates in starting their careers.
