Messer receives four safety awards

Messer, the largest family-run industrial gases specialist worldwide, has been recognized by the European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA) for its performance in occupational safety.

Messer received a “Gold Star Safety Award” for 20 years free of workplace accidents at its Hungarian production location in Kazincbarcika. EIGA presented a Silver Safety Award in recognition of ten years of accident-free operations at Messer’s production plant for air gases in Salzgitter, Germany. A Silver Safety Award was also presented to the MG Odra Gas joint venture, in the Czech Republic, for 500,000 hours worked without a workplace accident. EIGA awarded the Messer location in Mintia, Romania, a Bronze Safety Award for five years of accident-free work.

Each year, traditionally on the second Friday in September, Messer hosts a “Safety Day” for its 11,000 employees all over the world to raise awareness of workplace safety throughout its workforce. This year, the industrial gas specialist turned the event into a week-long event, with “Safety Week” observed in small groups or in connection with online events.

The Industrial Gases Association is headquartered in Brussels and represents nearly all European companies producing and distributing technical, medical, and food gases. Association members work together to achieve the highest possible standards of safety and environmental protection in the production, transport and use of gases.
