Messer prized with 15 safety awards

Industrial gases specialist Messer has received 15 safety awards for exemplary safety at work from the European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA).

The top award went to Messer in Slovakia for 25 years of accident-free operations. In 2013, owner and CEO Stefan Messer, together with Chief Financial Officer Hans-Gerd Wienands, first initiated an internal campaign aimed at improving safety at work, in conjunction with an annual worldwide day of action. The “Safety Day” and other measures, including safety inspections, tailor-made training programmes, risk analyses and reciprocal safety audits carried out by the various sites, are supported by an employee campaign in over 30 languages.

In addition, Messer confers a safety award of its own once a year. The requirements to apply for the award are zero accidents in the last two years, zero fatal accidents in the last five years, zero accidents when transporting gases as well as zero accidents with an environmental impact. Last year, Messer’s Spanish company received the internal award.
