Messer: Mechatronics training programme in Vietnam

In February 2015, the first 14 Vietnamese mechatronics trainees of Messer and B. Braun successfully completed their two-year dual training programme. All the graduates received permanent employment contracts in the companies of Messer and B. Braun.

Some two years ago, on , the industrial gases specialist Messer and the pharmaceutical and medical supplies company B. Braun signed an agreement in  with the University of Technology and Education (UTE HY) Hung Yen. The project, part of develoPPP.de, was the start of the joint pilot project in Vietnam – a cooperative training in the mechatronics sector which includes training phases in the companies. With develoPPP.de, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) promotes the commitment of private companies where entrepreneurial opportunities and the need for developmental action coincide.

In order to further enhance the training programme, Messer and B. Braun have analysed the experience from the first two years with the partners concerned – the General Department of Vocational Training (GDVT) of the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), the AHK delegate of the German Economy in Vietnam, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The optimisation of the vocational dual training is scheduled to have taken place until the end of 2016, upon which the second round of courses can begin. Qualified specialists are in great demand in all companies in . At present, however, the vocational training system in  cannot cover this demand. Our pilot project is created to stand as a model for practice-oriented training and enlists further companies for the training programme.
