Messer has joined the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance

Messer is pleased to have joined the European Clean Energy Alliance, where it will bring its extensive expertise in industrial gases to bear on the efficient and effective deployment of green hydrogen with partners across Europe. Messer is the world’s largest family-run industrial gases specialist and sustainability is central to the company’s vision. Building on over 120 years of experience in the application of industrial gases, Stefan Messer, owner and CEO of the Messer Group GmbH, declares that, “We are focusing our development on technologies that make our customers’ production processes and operations more efficient and environmentally friendly.”

As regards hydrogen Messer is today an important supplier to industrial customers, who are increasingly seeking our help to integrate renewable hydrogen into their sourcing and production processes in support of decarbonisation. Messer is already an important supplier of hydrogen to mobility applications too, operating hydrogen filling stations in support of some of the world’s largest fleets of hydrogen buses, fork-lifts and other warehouse transport vehicles, especially in the US.

The European Clean Hydrogen Alliance aims at an ambitious deployment of hydrogen technologies by 2030, bringing together renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production, demand in industry, mobility and other sectors, as well as hydrogen transmission and distribution. The EU launched the Alliance as part of the new industrial strategy for Europe and to support the EU’s commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.

According to Tim Evison, SVP Group Business Development of the Messer Group GmbH, “Messer’s contribution will be based on entrepreneurial flair, farsighted thinking and a culture of continuous improvement.” Messer’s hydrogen solutions will help industrial customers and transport fleets across Europe to make firm progress towards the goal of climate-neutrality by 2050.

“We will be pleased to help the steel and metals industries, the chemical sector, the materials industries, food, pharmaceuticals, automobile and electronics sectors, amongst others, to decarbonise by sourcing and optimising the deployment of renewable hydrogen in their operations. Messer will also be delighted to help the industrial transport sector to adopt hydrogen as a clean, affordable and practical fuel.”
