It’s about more than gases

Industrial gases specialist Messer at EuroBLECH in Hannover

This year Messer will provide information on potential cost savings, new 3D metal printing applications and a practice-orientated service program on its stand (C98, Hall 13) at the EuroBLECH trade fair. From 23 to 26 October 2018, the industrial gases specialist will also showcase its virtual welding shop, “Welders’ point”, for the first time. This app lets you move around freely in a virtual welding shop with the aid of a VR headset. The user can trigger different actions through eye contact and thus get information on various welding processes.

“Cost optimisation starts with cost transparency. It is important to make comparisons but not to compare apples with oranges. The amount of saving is important.” Choosing the right shielding gas for welding, the ideal flow rate and the optimum parameter combinations is key to minimise reworking, welding time and, thus, costs. Overall costs of production can be effectively reduced by making the right choice of gas and type of gas supply based on needs, along with optimum delivery of the shielding gas. With demonstrations by its specialists, Messer will show the variegated applications of its products and provide information on the possible savings offered by the use of its ternary mixtures in cylinders.

“It’s about more than just gas cylinders. The aim is to provide a new form of customer satisfaction,” stresses Dr Bernd Hildebrandt, in charge of Welding and Cutting at Messer. “We want all of our customers to feel that we are just the right partner. And because this requires more than just a wide range of gases or even the fact that they are of the finest quality, we have developed and implemented a range of services relating to our cylinder gases based on practical requirements.” From A for analysis on site to S for a smartphone ordering service or T for training in the safe use of gases, not forgetting X for “Xpress” or “Xceptional” delivery, the program range offers customised service solutions.

Now a new service has been added to the program: the “Welders’ point” virtual welding shop. With this app, welders can get useful information about the different welding processes. At EuroBLECH 2018, Messer specialists will be demonstrating the app in public for the first time and answering any questions related to it.

Besides this extensive range of services, the industrial gases specialist also offers the ideal solution and the right gas to match the customer’s applications: Addline for additive manufacturing of metals, Aluline for inert gas welding of aluminium materials, Ferroline for MAG welding of plain steel, Inoxline for inert gas welding of high-alloy materials and Lasline for laser welding, cutting and brazing.

From gas supply to hardware
Messer will be exhibiting on a stand covering some 360 square metres, along with affiliate Messer Cutting Systems, the laser and laser systems divisions of Jenoptik and laser technology and material testing specialist Nutech.
